Description: [zipedit] Germany Product Advertising Poster Stamp Sekt-Bronte was a sparkling soft drink made with mate tea. According to the website: Heimat- und Ortsverein Bad Köstritz e.V. "Bronte" was a non-alcoholic soft drink made from Paraguay tea (mate tea), which was produced according to a recipe of pharmacist Hugo Obst (1859-1913) in Köstritz. Beverages made of mate tea were known from around 1906. A Berlin company produced a soft drink under the name "Yermeth" until about 1913. In a ldescriptive article from 1906, the drink "Yermeth" was described as very "invigorating", and the pharmacist Hugo Obst from Bayreuth is described as a producer. As early as 1903, Obst had presented his new drink "Yermeth" in the "Pharmaceutic Central Hall", which uses mate tea as the starting material. It is believed that Obst has sold the naming rights of "Yermeth" to a Berlin company. The pharmacist Hugo Obst sold his "Mohren pharmacy" in Bayreuth in 1905, and in 1907 went bankrupt in Saxony with his undertakings. In 1908, the pharmacist Obst contracted with the landowner Rudolf Zersch in Köstritz to use the name "Bronte" for a matte drink. Zersch was co-owner of the Fürstlichen Brauerei Köstritz (today: Köstritzer black beer brewery). The landowners Rudolf and Kurt Zersch provided a vacated building complex for the production of "Bronte". Since Bronte's production and distribution was very successful, a separate company was founded for this purpose. The pharmacist Hugo Obst from Köstritz and the forester Otto Schade from Tautenhain founded, on April 29, 1911, in the Gasthaus Plöthner in Reichardtsdorf, the „Deutsche Matte – Industrie Köstritz G. m. b. H.“. Obst contributed 20,000 marks, and Schade 80,000 marks as share capital. From now on the pharmacist Obst, and landowners Kurt and Rudolf Zersch from Köstritz, acted as board members of the company. After Hugo Obst died in December 1913, Dr. W. Zersch replaced him on the board. The beginning of World War I and the consequent difficulties in importing matte from South America stalled production and eventually led to the bankruptcy of the company in 1915. The insolvency proceedings dragged on until 1922, only then could the creditors be satisfied. In March 1926, four years after the companies bankruptcy, a new company was founded under the name „Mate-Industrie G. m. b. H., Köstritz i. Thür.“. Shareholders were the family members Rudolf, Kurt and Dr. Ing. jur. Wilhelm Zersch. The three shareholders, plus pharmacists Ernst Benzmann, Dr. Ing. Gottfried Hobus and dr. Erhardt Teschner, were appointed to the board of directors. Production was resumed at the same place. Following WWII, production was sporadic, and, in 1994, the owner of the company and the license for the name "Club-Mate" was sold to the family-owned Loscher Brewery, who continued production and distribution. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described. * A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
