The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on eBay. THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA ~ Recovered Behind the Round Tops~ A brass piece of hardware from a Federal shoulder scale that came off of a soldier's shell Jacket or frock coat (this is the piece that is sewn onto the shoulder to keep the shoulder scale in place, and it has ripped apart on one end, which is likely the reason it was lost in the first place. The 3rd image is for illustrative purposes to show the parts of the Shoulder Scale. This artifact was recovered from an area between the Taneytown and Emmitsburg Roads close to the Round Tops and the National Park boundary within the last couple years (On private property with permission). Quite a few artifacts were discovered at this location including New York buttons. These relics come from a group that I just acquired in July of 2019. A provenance letter will be included. All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered. We will not buy or sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally. We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess.
