Description: Girard-Perregaux Traveler Alarm and GMT wristwatch. Stainless steel with crocodile leather strap. Model # 4940. Serial # 15. The watch is in excellent condition having received a total overhaul with replacement of all worn parts in Oct22 (see attached repair receipt). The Girard-Perregaux Traveller II 4940 GMT Alarm is a 38mm all-in-one solution for the connoisseur of complications with an alarm function, a second time zone, jump date and automatic winding. The Traveller II GMT Alarm series was introduced in 2000 and discontinued in 2009. The black face has luminous white short point Syringe-style Hour and Minute hands; an Outer Railroad Track; a white Seconds hand; and a white Alarm hand terminating with a luminous red triangle. The hours are shown with white Arabic applied markers. The GMT and Date windows show white Arabic numerals on a black background. The Second Time odd hours are shown with Red Stars. Complications are integrated pursuant to a practical and discreet aesthetic sensibility. The second time zone in a jump-hour aperture is situated beneath the numeral at 12o’clock. A jump-date window supplants the numeral at six o’clock. Twin crowns control the Girard-Perregaux caliber 2291 automatic movement. The crown at two o’clock winds in the closed position. Pulled out to the 1stposition, the date is adjusted turning forward and the second time zone in the other direction. Pulled out to the 2nd position, the time is set. The crown at four o’clock winds the alarm. Pull this crown out to set the alarm as indicated by the 4th hand, and left pulled out activates the alarm. With 31 jewels, a modern 28,800 VpH beat rate, and hacking (stop) seconds, the Cal. 2291 is a rugged and precise companion to the sophisticated, yet practical exterior. Based on an A. Schild 5008 alarm caliber, the 2291 is adorned with GP-specific perlage, cotes, and blued screw decoration (see stock image). The black crocodile leather strap is highlighted with red stitching and a double deployment clasp. The watch is accompanied by a second all-black crocodile strap and the original GP tang buckle. No papers or case are offered.
