Description: I have for sale a circa 1820's medal from Great Britain. The medal is made of white metal, it is 1 7/8 inches in diameter and in circulated condition. This medal is listed in the Eimer catalog of British Commemorative Medals as #1140 and called Elgin Marbles. The obverse shows the Royal Arms and at the rim it reads THE ELGIN MEDALS DEDICATED BY PERMISSION TO HIS MAJESTY GEORGE IV. The reverse shows a fragment from the Parthenon frieze.
