Description: Guatemala, once known as Preston, is a Cuban village of the municipality of Mayara, in Holguin Province. For the first half of the 20th century, the village was a sugar cane processing center owned and operated by the “United Fruit Company” but following the Cuban Revolution in 1958 it was forced to withdraw, and the Cuban government renamed the town Guatemala to symbolize solidarity with the Central American nation. The village of Guatemala is located in Nipe Bay, and we have the seashore on this uncredited card. It is not dated but is a DB, 1908-1915 and is in good condition except for a bent upper left corner but has just minor wear overall. The image is clean a clear as is the reverse.
