Description: For your consideration is a vintage beaded Indonesian basket, referred to as a “beaded treasure box.” This Balinese basket with lid is in excellent condition, and measures about 6 ½ inches in diameter (at its widest point). Measures about 5 ¾ inches high (at highest point). Clean interior. From a non-smoking home. Because of its design, this beaded basket does tilt slightly when set down. These beautiful “beaded treasure boxes” were crafted by the Sasak people in Lombok, the first island east of Bali, in Indonesia. These “boxes” (baskets) were originally made with just rattan core and peel, and were used to store betel vines. Today, the exterior is enhanced with lovely colored beads. They are perfect for storing jewelry or anything of value. Check out the pictures -- you will notice that the colors of the basket are NOT bright and vivid, but rather more muted colors.
