Description: Harper's Weekly 1912 + Scientific American 1919 - Two old Magazines This auction includes two publications from the early 1900s. I purchased these in an antique shop in Sacramento back in the 1970s while researching the construction of the Panama Canal. The Harper's Weekly does have one graphic of the ditch, but there are lots of other interesting articles in both magazines. The details for this publication are as follows: Harper's Weekly ; September 21, 1912 ; articles include: Progress on the Campaign, The Police Question, Filling in the Panama Canal, The Survival of Society, Why the Germans Lend, Football Fashions for 1912, Mr. Bozeman's Transformation, The Personnel of Floor 7, The Third-term Peril, Wilson Against the Field, The Problem of the Railways, The Great Seal of the Confederacy, and more. Scientific American ; February 22, 1919 ; articles include: Huge Bridge to Facilitate Coal Handling, Reconstruction in Europe, The Principles of Camouflage, The German Art of Make Believe, The World's Coal Supply, Human Reconstruction, World Markets for American Manufacturing, Inventions New and Interesting, Make Your Plant a Better Place to Work In, and more. Condition: The Harper's Weekly has been folded vertically at the center,. You can feel the crease with your fingers, but the pages lay flat and there are no tears at the fold. There are minor splits at the tops and bottoms of the pages at the binding fold, but there is no problem with turning pages and the splits do not progress onto the pages. Overall, in good to VG condition for its age. The Scientific American appears to have been removed from a bound volume. There is a library stamp at the top of the front cover. Other than that, it is in remarkably good condition. These are oversized publications and must be shipped in a large box to prevent damage. Please note: I try to charge actual shipping costs on all items. To save on shipping, you can purchase multiple items and wait until I send you an invoice. No international shipping. The winning bidder agrees to make contact with me within 2 days of the end of the auction and/or to make payment within 4 days. I will leave feedback after the buyer receives their item and leaves positive feedback for me. Check out my other auction items. I often list similar items in other categories. Most of my listings include collectibles from the Panama Canal Zone, artifacts, books, stamps and coins. This includes boomerangs, license plates, molas, celts, slings and Aboriginal items. If an item does not sell, I often relist it within a month at a lower price. Good luck and many thanx for purchasing my eBay items.
