A pre production sample is a special preview sample that the factory sends for review and ultimately the product development and the licensor review it and make any necessary changes in order to bring you the finished product. The term "pre-production sample", however is a blanket term used to cover many different stages of the review and production process. These Reducto & Mentok figures are what is known as a Final Engineering Prototype, or FEP, which basically means itis the last sample sent to us for review to show all the debugging and reworking that has occured. Typically FEP's are final stage prototypes that have all the legal lines and texturesadded and the jointwork debugged. Painted FEP's are the most common of the prototype process, while UNPAINTED or SINGLE COLOR PAINTED or DUSTED versions of FEP's are far less common since the factory usually sends painted versions of these samples in order for us to give BOTH final FEP reviews and Final Paint reviews taken care of in one sitting. You will often also hear this level of pre production stage sample referred to as a "Test Shot" or "Unpainted or Painted Test Shot" or "Painted or Unpainted PPS" or "Unpainted or Painted Third or Fourth Shots." Only 2 or 3 of theseitems were ever produced and sent to the U.S for the review process and the figures sealed in this condition, from this stage of the production process, will never be offered for retail sale since the company Palisades is no longer in business.
