I put in 4 C batteries, turned it on and Lexie starts making sounds, tips her head and moves. If you rub the top of its right paw it will give you a High 5. It does a lot and instructions can be found online and in Youtube videos. Does NOT include the bone or the blue box of treats. Once the dog is fed the plastic treats, when you rub it above its tail it will poop them out. (I am not finding this feature to be so special) I have not researched all the things it does. Everything that I read that it does, I tried and it worked fine. It does react to sounds of pets and people. If left alone it eventually closes its eyes and falls asleep, snoring softly. 4 C BATTERIES ARE NOT INCLUDED. This talented pup loves to perform cool tricks: She flips her bone, shakes "paws", and can even bark a tune!
