Description: Fresh from an estate comes this vintage Heathkit model IB-1103 frequency counter with nixie tube display. This counter is rated for frequencies up to 180 MHz. The counter has been tested and all functions seem to work. The one issue I found is that sensitivity dropped greatly on signals below 3 MHz. Not sure what to make of this but it made it harder to test the multiplier settings. In the photos you can see it being tested with a 2m FM hand-held radio, mostly on 146.55 MHz. The counter may need calibrating but is already pretty close. I used a signal generator to test lower frequencies and once I got the power level up high enough it worked fine. Obviously the case has some cosmetic issues, as the paint is peeling off and most of the feet are missing. Some fresh paint would make this unit nice looking again. All the nixies are nice and bright. The other lamps all work though some seem kind of dim. There is also something odd about this counter. All other IB-1103's that I've seen online had two BNC inputs, labeled AC and DC. This counter has a single BNC input, and a knob. The knob has four positions, but there are only three labels. Not really sure what's going on here; please see close-up photo. Please see the photos for the actual item on offer. 2908B7
