Expert's comment: Painter, cartoonist and caricaturist, friend of Sempé and Gosciny, henri morez (1922-2017) was spotted from an early age by the painter Emmanuel Mané-Katz. A talented artist, he exhibited at the age of 16 at the Salon d'Automne in 1938. But the war will come to upset everything, denounced, his family is arrested and deported and he will never see her again. Art and humor then become an antidote to the gloom and despair of everyone, a means of survival for the artist and the spectator. In the 1950s, his drawings were published by Le Figaro littéraire, Paris Match, Jours de France… He also illustrated a Larousse dictionary with his 1000 drawings for use by foreigners (he was born in Romania and arrived in France in 1927, his real name is Hers Askenasi). His qualities as a draftsman and the humor he demonstrated enabled him to win the Robert Carrizey prize for best comedian in 1954. His favorite subjects are drawn from current events, daily life and its little hassles, women, children, the city. This description has been drawn up by us following our expertise and the various reference books on the artist in our possession, any copy is therefore prohibited.Shipping and Packaging: This work will be sent within 2 working days, neatly packaged in a solid package and secured at the ends by adhesive guarantee strips.
