HEREND Porcelain ROTHSCHILD BIRD Coffee Pot, Rose Finial, Old Mark

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely Herend porcelain hand painted coffee pot with 24 K gold trim and hand applied yellow rose knob finial in the ROTHSCHILD BIRD pattern. The porcelain body is beautifully decorated with colorful bird scene with butterflies and insects and has a basket weave textured band around top of pot and lower portion of lid. The lid is further embellished with hand applied porcelain yellow rose finial and branch shaped stem enameled in green. Marked with the trademark stamp used prior to 1930 and "Hungary". This lovely coffee pot is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Measures 8 1/2" high and is 7 1/4" at widest (spout to handle). Weighs 1.5 pounds.History: This pattern was created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered by porcelain lovers to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. The pattern consists of 12 different bird motifs portraying a 19th Century tale about Baroness Rothschild. The story goes that she lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. After several days, the necklace was found by her gardener who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
