Boards are clean, no marks, no wear to edges or corners. Hinges and binding are square and tight, no loose pages. Page edges are clean with slight dark line of thumbing at lower corner. Text paper is crisp and white, no markings, no damaged pages. There is some loss of quality in the photoduplication of the original portrait plates, printed single-sided (see photo examples). Many fold-out maps have been copied separately and bound-in (photo example). This is an astonishingly complete picture of early Lancaster County from its "Indian Occupation," various wars, and settlement of each borough (see photo of Table of Contents). 8.75" x 10.5" 1101 pages. Seller has no information on when this reproduction was made but the binding is in like new condition. Copyright page (see photo) has a note at bottom "Press of J. B. Lippincott & Co." which may have made the reprint. Copies of the original 1888 edition are very rare and this is a top-quality reproduction that will be useful to historians and families interested in the area.
