He became well-known in the early 1960s, gaining fame on the West Coast as a folk singer. He was known for his deep, strong voice and his down-to-earth style. Some of his most famous songs include "Joy to the World," "The Pusher," "No No Song," "Greenback Dollar," "Della and the Dealer," and "Never Been to Spain."In addition to his music career, Axton was a successful actor, often playing father figures in movies.
