Artist chopmark printed in plate to the lower right. Painted on textured paper, under glass, in a wood frame (19" H x 23" W) with gold-toned finish and bamboo likeness. Hui-Chi Mau immigrated from Hong Kong to New York City and was renowned for painting Horses in his Chinese black brush style. As a young man, he studied classic Chinese brush painting at the National Art Academy, Hangchow, China. He was a protege of Chi Pai-shih.
