All pictures are of the actual item, not stock photos. This book has been stored in a mylar jacket cover for protection since I have owned it. All pictures were taken with the mylar cover removed for accuracy (you’ll notice not everyone does that...) The book is being sold with the mylar jacket cover included. Purchased used at Vagabond Books in Westwood in the mid-80’s, gently read a couple times & mostly been boxed and in a climate-controlled storage ever since. From a smoke free/pet free home, this is the Random House 1971 first edition. Please have a good look at the pics, lots are posted that will tell the story & I’m happy to send more if you want them! This is a solid, collectible copy with the flaws that would be commensurate to the grade. Dust jacket with a couple small tears, a few creases, and some light tanning around the perimeter. Still with decent gloss. Price was clipped from upper-inside flap. Very nice of Bob to send this book to Richard with a personalized note, but I coulda done without it... Binder & boards in good shape with all pages well attached, looks like possibly a little sun fade to the top edge. Pages are creamy off-white, very nice, and mostly clean. When the book is closed, looks like some light soiling and a few small spots of staining along the page edges. Only flaws I can find with the inside pages: around pages 30-45 there’s a small reddish/brown spot of discoloration about the size of a #2 pencil eraser at the binding that runs through multiple pages. I specifically took a pic of page 41 which was right about in the middle of the pack as where it’s at it’s worst. Also in that pic, you’ll see there’s a small touch of staining, maybe a drop of coffee (but there’s no wrinkle that indicates moisture damage and it doesn’t bleed through the page). There are a couple stains, at most a single handful, similar to that one I found on page 41, randomly through the book. Also, a couple larger stains on pages 108-110 and 116-117 that speak for themselves. Those are the only flaws with the pages, so when I say ‘mostly clean’ you know what I’m talking about and there are no surprises. An average well-worn copy; using the standard Antiquarian grading scales I’m very comfortable calling this a “GOOD/VERY GOOD” copy.
