Description: First three images show caudex and leaf details of specimen plants in my personal collection. Images four and five show artificially propagated, seed grown plants offered for sale, freshly transplanted to 3.5" pots. Both plants are branched. Still wobbly in the substrate, but with excellent root systems that should anchor them firmly in their new pots within a month. A very eccentric-looking and desirable Hydnophytum sp. from the vicinity of Jayapura, northern Papua Province, Indonesia. Caudexes are remarkable for their large, lipped or tubular entry holes and multiple lobes as they mature. Some key plant characters shared with H. albertisii also in the H.radicans species complex from further south, but definitely distinct in others. Like other related lowland hydnos from Papua, this one can develop a significant wingspan (36") at maturity unless they are pruned. Easy to grow under warm to intermediate conditions. Free flowering once past this pot size. Nice sized, leaf perfect plants with shot-holed caudexes even at this stage. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt of payment, weather permitting. 72 hour heat packs are available for an additional nominal charge.
