Description: Lisbeth Asay tells a story of salvation and adventure from the point of view of Lipizzaner stallion, Siglavy Sagana II. I, Siglavy will delight, touch and inspire. Based on a true story, the stallion, Siglavy reflects on his life, the people and animals in it. Over a period of seven days he contemplates the essence of life and the central relationships in his world of beings. A former circus horse, Siglavy comes into Margaret's life as a gift from her husband. In Siglavy's presence, events unfold to shape Margaret's life and deepen her perspective. With beauty and pure goodness, Siglavy impresses everyone in his midst, from people who have never touched a horse to world-famous horse people. He becomes a mentor of love and understanding, of learning and effort. When tragedy suddenly strikes, Margaret's will to live is lost. It is Siglavy who brings her back, step by step. I, Siglavy is a fascinating and poetic tale of the deep and influential connection between animal and human, to be enjoyed by horse people and those who have never known an animal. Lisbeth P. Asay was born in Norway where she worked in publishing. She now lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and their two horses. Siglavy Sagana II was a Lipizzan stallion purchased from El Capitan Ranch in California. He was a circus horse before he came to Margaret Gill in Oregon. He lived to be 31 years old. While waiting to turn ten, the age required to join the riders, Lisbeth P. Asay watched here seniors and their horses trot around the outdoor arena at the riding school. When her day to ride finally arrived, it was on Coq D'Or, nicknamed Coggen, a former race horse, that she make her 'debut.' She loved him from the first time he turned his head and snapped his teeth at her or left her lying in the ice-cold mud gazing up at him trotting away. And then, at last, riding Coggen at the canter, knowing he didn't do this for free and he didn't do it for just anyone. Much later, she had a career in newspapers, publishing houses and schools in Norway, but the horses were never forgotten. She became part of the majority of horse lovers in the world: all those who love horses but don't own them. Lisbeth P. Asay lives in Portland with her husband. After moving there from Norway, and realizing it was horse heaven, she looked for a quarter horse to lease for western trail riding. Instead, she stumbled upon Seri, and without planning on it, had her own horse, a mature Dutch Warmblood, of a good family but with a checkered past. As with Coq D'Or, love was instant but not mild and mellow. She sought out Margaret Gill at Highland Stables to help with Seri. One day , when Margaret asked Lisbeth if she would be interested in writing a book about her Lipizzaner stallion, horses and books joined forces to create I, Siglavy.
