Please note there is an additional signature present on this page! Initially, we believed the other signature might be of some importance. Unfortunately, we have been unable to ascertain, with an acceptable degree of certainty, the identity of the other individual who also put their signature on this page. For this reason, we MUST proceed with an abundance of caution and assume the other signature is simply the name of a previous owner. The additional signature adds no monetary value or has any cultural significance. If anything, the additional signature should be viewed as an unfortunate flaw! Once again, we want to repeat that there is another signature present on the same page as the Jon Krakauer signature and we believe this signature is simply the name of a previous owner. A TRUE First Illustrated Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! Please remember this is the First ILLUSTRATED Edition, this is NOT the First Edition/Printing of this title! The TRUE First/First was published in 1997. Once again, we want to repeat that this is NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title. This is, however, the TRUE First of this particular edition with the correct number line ending with "2", the First Edition statement, the correct original price on the dust jacket etc. This rare treasure has some very clearly visible wear, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, is considerable and should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and other than the presumed previous owner signature, has no internal writing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding firm and tight. All of the pages are present and fully attached. Some general/shelf wear along with wear to the spine/corners/boards and creases/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the pages, particularly noticeable on certain pages. The pages have a noticeably "wavy" appearance. We purposely photographed the pages from various angles in an effort to fully show the nature/extent of the wear. All of the wear previously mentioned is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original, clear dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but has considerable wear! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, scratches, rips and marks. The dust jacket also has some very noticeable discoloration, along with the large marks. The discoloration has greatly affected the color of the jacket and is extensive at certain areas. Along with the considerable discoloration, please also note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! All of the wear previously mentioned is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is considerable and very clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying.
