Breit adapted other novels for the stage including R.K. Narayan's novel "The Guide" (1968). Won a Tony Award in 1959 Best Play "The Disenchanted". Thurber (1894-1961), born December 8, 1894; died November 2, 1961; American writer and cartoonist; major contributor and managing editor of The New Yorker magazine (1927-52); known for whimsical writings and cartoons; works include his popular short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."
