He is known for Small town life, genre, children and everyday life painting.Son of Jean-Pierre Haag, a mechanic, and his wife Genevieve Maloizel living in Elbeuf, Normandy.He joined the Ecouen Painters Colony on 1870 and became a student of Pierre Edouard Frere and Leon Dansaert. He married Ernestine Juliette Confais and they had several children including painter Jean Gaston Haag.He exhibited in Paris in 1870 for the first time, showing his painting titled "Interieur de forge a Villiers-le-Bel".Like most of the artists of Ecouen, he painted the country lifestyle.One of his major works titled "La gardeuse d'enfants en Normandie" was exhibited in 1980 at the Paris Grand Palais. In April 1989, "Le jeu de dominos" was shown in London. Both paintings belong to the Louviers Museum (Normandy).
