JHS Hard Drive Distortion Pedal - Tan

Description: Live Out Your '90s/'00s Distortion Dream with the JHS Hard Drive The Hard Drive Distortion pedal, JHS' first-ever all-original distortion, catapults players into a sandbox world of late-'90s post-grunge and early-'00s tones. Flexible 3-band EQ and a Mid Freq selector give the Hard Drive chameleon-like powers capable of achieving virtually any ‘90s-style distortion tone. Sweetwater tests were nostalgic speed trials covering everything from moody post-grungy scoops to the earnest javelin-like upper-midrange of alt-rock. The Hard Drive’s name is an obvious pun, but it's also truth in advertising! The pedal drives hard with an outrageous gain range and generous headroom, capable of transforming any clean amp into a powerhouse of millennial pain. Nearly eight years of work went into the Hard Drive, and the results speak for themselves with a pithy presence that's left us confident that the dream of the ‘90s is alive in Kansas City.Built from scratch for dynamic Sweetwater is an Authorized JHS Dealer Genuine Open Box Item Sweetwater's 2-year warranty JHS Hard Drive Distortion Pedal - Tan Modern High-gain Distortion Pedal with 3-band EQ, Sweepable Mids, Buffered Bypass, and Silent Soft-touch Switching Live Out Your '90s/'00s Distortion Dream with the JHS Hard Drive The Hard Drive Distortion pedal, JHS' first-ever all-original distortion, catapults players into a sandbox world of late-'90s post-grunge and early-'00s tones. The pedal drives hard with an outrageous gain range and generous headroom, capable of transforming any clean amp into a powerhouse of millennial pain. Nearly eight years of work went into the Hard Drive, and the results speak for themselves with a pithy presence that's left us confident that the dream of the ‘90s is alive in Kansas City.Built from scratch for dynamic control Designing a distortion that succeeds at handling two decades of rock is an ambitious feat, but the years that were poured into the Hard Drive paid off. A sweepable Mid Freq parameter allows for surgical midrange cuts or boosts that transform your sound. You can tune in and tune down to drop D for thick, scooped tones or brighten things up with the earnest upper-midrange of alt-rock. You can even tackle some nu-metal classics if you max out the Drive knob — we won’t tell! Diming the Volume and Drive controls is rarely necessary, but the extra power is always there and ready to roll when you need more output for the stage. The Hard Drive’s strong sensitivity to guitar volume knob placement adds another layer of control. Your volume knob tweaks respond like a tube amp, which means this pedal “cleans up nice” indeed. Roll the volume back for tighter note-by-note definition, or dime it for chewy saturation and intense harmonics.Swan song for Cliff Smith, a dear engineer The Hard Drive is the built-from-scratch culmination of a nearly eight-year process. Designers crafted their own cascading gain stages, a Class AB amp section, and a unique limiting circuit, all of which add to the Hard Drive’s vivid tube-like sound. But, at JHS headquarters, the Hard Drive isn't just a pedal. It’s the final passion project of former head engineer Cliff Smith, who had a major hand in other hit originals such as the Colorbox. Cliff spent years of his nights and weekends refining the Hard Drive, which isn’t based on any pre-existing circuits. Cliff finished a winning prototype shortly before he passed away in 2021. The Hard Drive couldn’t exist without Cliff’s work. He obsessed over the fundamentals for half a decade and grew invested in what Josh Scott calls “big, complicated gain-staging and the challenge of making solid-state circuitry respond like a valve amp.” Josh continues, saying, “Cliff loved learning, and this [pedal] was his last masterclass. I can’t think of a more fitting last release from us as a design team than the Hard Drive.”JHS Hard Drive Distortion Pedal Features: Modern distortion with an all-original circuit developed by Cliff Smith, formerly of JHS Built for amp-like distortion inspired by the heyday of post-grunge and alt-rock Bass, treble, and midrange controls fuel flexible tone-shaping from crunch to cutting leads and harmonic-rich distortion Sweepable midrange frequency control shapes performance to suit your rig and tastes Produces a tube-like response using cascading gain stages, a hard-limiting circuit, and a Class AB amp section Buffered bypass and silent soft-touch switching SpecificationDetail Pedal Type Distortion Analog/Digital Analog Inputs 1 x 1/4" Outputs 1 x 1/4" Bypass Switching Buffered bypass EQ Active 3-band EQ, Mid Shift Power Source 9V DC power supply (sold separately) RETURN INFORMATION We want you to be completely happy with your purchase from Sweetwater.
