Johan Carl Lorange (1833-1875) Born in Harzen, Germany in 1833. Died in Cairo, Egypt in 1875. Lorange belonged to the circle of 19th century German artists who travelled aboard to study and paint. He moved to Denmark and was educated at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen. He then travelled to Italy where he worked and later resided permanently in Rome from 1873.
