Description: This is not a first edition, as The Swiss Family Robinson was first published in 1812. It was first published in German. This book is written in English and was translated by William H. G. Kingston. It is marked as "A New Translation" on the title page. I couldn't see who the illustrator was, but the art on the back cover is credited to J. L. Blamire The front cover is loose and the spine is gone. The back cover is still attached to some of the text block. There is shelf wear, overall wear, and there is some damage to the illustrations. All pages appear to be accounted for, but the binding is no longer secure. Quite a few signatures are loose (signatures are groupings of pages). There is writing from some previous owners on the inside front cover, first page, and last page. The rest of the book appears to be clear of any writing.
