Description: This Johnstown meteorite (achondrite) fragment (0.023 gram) is an exquisite example, loaded with beautiful yellow-green orthopyroxene crystals, which is the dominant mineral is diogenites. There is also a small patch of fusion crust visible! Johnstown is regarded by collectors worldwide as among the most beautiful of the known diogenites. Johnstown was also an observed fall on July 6, 1924, in Weld County, Colorado. Note: This micro fragment, along with several other pieces, broke off my larger collection piece while photographing. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a rare and exception piece! Photograph one was taken using reflective cross polarized lighting (RXPL) and photo-stacking software.
