Description: I found this little pink envelope whilst sorting through my Late Grandfathers First World War memorabilia. I thought it was empty but when I held it up to the light I saw a circular shadow. It is a very old English Farthing (nearly 400 years old !) One quarter of a penny, from the mid 17th Century (1630). It has a Crescent mint mark and is a (Type 2) Charles the 1st Rose Farthing. This coin was around and in circulation at the time of Oliver Cromwell and Charles I and the English Civil War. You really can hold history in your hand at an affordable price with this remarkable coin !
