Knife Making: Small Wheels for 2x72" knife making belt grinder

Description: CAUTION: Many competitors are selling small wheels & holders which are narrow. They are easily identifiable by looking for a gap between the bearing & the face where the belt runs, if there's no gap they are narrow. This means that you have zero margin for error when you track the belt & the belt often runs gouges into the sides of your holder, Careful what you spend your money on. This listing is for a set of small steel wheels for 2x72" belt grinders. They fit Origin Blade Maker small wheel holders (not included), listed in our Ebay store (you will need a small wheel holder to be able to use this set of wheels). We use 1018 steel & the wheels are surprisingly durable & grind finger grooves precisely. The set consists of 5 popular diameters: 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" & 1". As with all small wheels it is important not to spin these too fast, the bearings are too small to handle high rpm's. We find that a 1800rpm motor with 4" drive wheel provides a speed which is tolerable for moderate lengths of operating time. Keep checking the bearings for heat even at this speed. Another excellent option for turning these wheels slowly is our 2-Speed Lightning wheel which has a 4:1 reduction so it turns at 1/4 motor speed (available in our Ebay store; have a look at the Youtube video). Higher quality grinding belts have smooth seams which will hardly be noticeable on these hard wheels but cheaper quality belts, especially coarse grit belts will be bumpier than rubber or urethane coated wheels.
