In his life, Shekita has been a sportsman and a stuntman, but his work with pipes first began in the 1990s, in Ukraines Golden Gate pipe factory. Here, Shekita learned to make machine-made pipes; in the 2000s, he began to create hand-made, artisan pipes under the Shekita name. I dont need to tell you that briar is hard. If it wasnt, it wouldnt be a good material to make pipes out of. So how is it, then, that the masters of briar pipe-making are able to create something that looks as soft as ruffled silk? I wish I knew. In any case, this short little pipe from Shekita is not made from silk, and nor is it carved with fabric in mind. Instead, it takes its inspiration from the humble snail, with its coiled back ridge evoking the creatures familiar shell. This Shekita is completely unsmoked.
