In the intervening period, knit silk ties have become a stylish standard in contemporary men’s neckwear, with the true grenadine occupying the highest rung of prestige. The grenadine is the rarest of all knit silk tie fabrics, as there are only two sources for this material, both in Italy. This tie bears the “Made in Italy” tag. This “garza grossa” is the more open weave of the two types available. It has a striking appearance: its bold texture reflects light in a unique way, and could never be mistaken for the “garza fina” weave or an ordinary woven tie. This knit material is the basis of all grenadine grossa ties sold worldwide, from Jermyn Street in Mayfair to Via Montenapoleone in Milan.
