WREN (1938-2016) This large mid-century modern landscape painting titled “Moenkopi” is by Martha Kay Renfroe, an Oregon artist and writer of mystery and science fiction, who published her works under the pseudonym M.K. Wren. As author, she is best known for her mystery series featuring the character Conan Flagg. As an artist, she is known in the Pacific Northwest for her landscape paintings and watercolors. Her artwork has been shown in galleries, juried exhibitions and invitational shows, and has works in museums and important private collections. This painting is an excellent example of the artist’s work. The medium is oil on stretched canvas measuring 16 x 40 inches. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner: MK RENFROE. Also titled, signed and inscribed by the artist on the reverse, top stretcher bar: “MOENKOPI” – OIL – O-286823 MARTHA KAY RENFROE CASCADE ARTISTS GALLERY LINCOLN CITY, ORE. The painting comes framed. The frame measures 22 x 46 inches. CONDITION: There is evidence of craquelure to the thick layers of paint, otherwise the painting is in very good condition.
