Description: Large African Bakete/Bakuba Tribal Horned Helmet Mask from Zaire. Hand carved early to mid 19th century in Zaire. Very large dance mask used for initiations and funeral ceremonies. 16”tall, 12” wide, and 18” front to back. Wood is stable but does have markings, wear, cracks…see pics. There is an old repair on it. Pic of “model” includes to show just how large this piece is.
