Lost Innocents (Servant of the Crown)

Description: Lost Innocents (Servant of the Crown) ITEM DESCRIPTION Product Description INTO THE WOODSA leper’s daughter is found in the well of a dying hamlet and the only suspect has fled into Feckenham Forest. But the sun is setting and Warwickshire’s sheriff is hunting his new Crowner. That sends Sir Faucon de Ramis and Brother Edmund, his prickly clerk, racing for a nearby abbey only to meet the man he least wishes to see at the abbey gates. Before long, Faucon finds himself riding into the dark at Sir Alain's side as they hunt for yet another lost innocent. Review Five stars. Ms Domning has struck gold again. The Crowner and his idiosyncratic clerk are again on the hunt for murderers, secrets, puzzles and justice for all who deserve it. This trip to medieval Britain includes multiple murders, mostly as a result of a long-ago rape never revealed and an illegitimate child never acknowledged. Villains abound, both male and female, along with the usual eclectic mix of Good People just trying to survive in very uncertain and dangerous times. The twists and turns of the plot and the characters provide great entertainment and satisfaction, with one glaring exception. The followers of this series have been taunted and tantalized with brief visits into the mind of a serial child murderer at work, intermingling his path with that of our Hero, and no identifying clues and no resolution at the end of this third novel. To make it worse, there is no mention made of a next chapter in this ongoing tale, no name of the new volume to come, not even the promise that the series will continue - what?????? --Amazon I read the first book in this series and then happened upon the third. What a delight to read. Great story. The medieval setting not described so much as lived out by the characters. I kept wishing there was a glossary in the back. The plot was complex in fascinating ways. Her characters had a complexity that made the journey interesting to follow. It never drug on nor was repetitive. The principal characters are developed much further in this book, both as individuals and in their relationship with one another. The addition of the miller as body guard for Falcon is a good one. The miller's plays off Edmond and Falcon in promising ways. Meanwhile Edmond is becoming more likable as Falcon notes positive sides to his abrasive personality. In this genre of historical fiction, the book stands out. Happy reading. 2 --Amazon Such a rare and tasty treat that I just finished reading this series for the second time. The tapestry of characters, vivid description and historical accuracy of Medieval England are to be enjoyed and savored. Sherlock and Watson in Norman clothing. Wonderful indeed. I am impatiently awaiting the next book in the series. --Amazon About the Author What can I say? I'm single and over sixty, I write and I farm on eight acres of slowly improving red earth (it originally looked like Mars had exploded!) on Oak Creek in northern Arizona. I started with chickens, then there were turkeys and Jersey milk cows. But with livestock came the predators: coyotes, bald eagles, black hawks, mountain lions, and, worst of all, raccoons. Dang those nasty creatures! They kill just because they can; think dogs with opposable thumbs. (Five chickens in one night--they reached in through the chain link and killed the birds with no expectation of being able to eat them.) They are the reason I have my two amazing dogs, Moosie (an Akita/Sharpei mix) and Bear (a Hungarian Kuvasz). Moosie just loves to take on (and kill) the raccoons. As for the cats, I have six and they're supposed to eat the gophers but, being cats, they prefer cat food, thank you very much. I've since given up cows (not forever, I hope) in favor of pigs and Dorper Sheep, a South African breed that doesn't need to be sheared and gains all their weight on grass alone, after an acquaintance informed me that they are "stupid simple" to raise. Stupid simple I can do! Hard to believe but I'm now a pig fanatic. Dogs wi About Us Returns Payment Shipping We are honored to welcome you as a loyal customer.
