A general guideline of a books weight (meaning this doesn't work for every book) is 1 lb for a hardback and approximately 1/2 a pound for a paperback. The USPS does not deal in fractions of a pound when pricing media mail. 8 oz of media mail costs the same to ship as 1 lb. To ship 1 lb and 1 oz of media mail costs the same to ship as 2 lbs. You can often tell how much a book weighs if the seller has posted the pre-printed information in the additional details description that appears prior to the sellers customized description. HOWEVER, realize that information can be wrong and it does not take into account the weight of the box and other shipping materials. Media mail is relatively cheap but it can be slow. It truly can take up to 9 business days to receive from the time it hits the post office. Your seller has absolutely NO control over the shipping time once it leaves their hands. When you are shopping at THE MISSING PIECE and you would like a shipping method that is not available to you at check out simply e-bay message us and we will send you the appropriate invoice as long as your preferred method is legal and available from the United States Post Office.
