Description: These chickens are made from a specific type of composite that was developed by the O&M Hauser company. They made all kinds of figures, but their soldiers and farm animals were the most popular. They were molded , and then hand painted. Because they were hand painted and made in small mold batches, there is slight variance in the figures between sets. This grouping includes 4 that were from the same set, and one that is very slightly different. They are all in incredible condition! They are great for a Christmas Putz village, or farm village, that folks display under their trees each year at Christmas. Putz means plaster, and the very early ones were often made from plaster. Putz scenes under trees, in addition to nativities have been popular for at least 150 years. These chickens are about 2". They are unmarked. "Elastolin is a trademark used by the German company O&M Hausser (O&M Haußer) for the toy soldiers and other types of figures it manufactured from composite material and later from plastic. (These are from composite) The Hausser firm was founded in 1904 by Christian Hausser and his sons Otto and Max."
