Description: LUCHOW'S NYC FAMOUS GERMAN RESTAURANT ON 1633 BROADWAY VINTAGE GLASS ASHTRAY. After 100 years as a gustatory landmark on 14th Street, Luchow's, the last of Manhattan's opulent German restaurants, will move to the theater district in June. Peter Aschkenasy, who with his partner, Jack Levine, took over the restaurant three years ago after it had been closed for several months by a previous management, said the owners were ''not happy about leaving 14th Street.' ''But actually we're 80 years late in rejoining the theater district that moved uptown at the turn of the century,'' he said. When August Luchow opened his restaurant in 1882 in a three-story brownstone that it still occupies at the foot of Irving Place, 14th Street was the hub of the city's entertainment and shopping districts. Most of the legitimate playhouses were nearby, as was the opera, along with Macy's, Lord & Taylor and other department stores. The New Location Luchow's new location will be in the sunken plaza of the 48-story office building at 1633 Broadway, opposite the Winter Garden theater between 50th and 51st Streets. The building, occupied principally by the Paramount Group, houses two theaters - the Uris and the Circle in the Square. Item is pre-owned in excellent used condition, no chips, no cracks, heavy duty thick glass.
