Mesh Cutting Techniques – Cut & Rotate There are several ways the heating mat may be cut and turned to fit around corners and avoid obstacles such as fixtures and built-ins on the floor.Heating wires must never touch or crossHeating wire cannot be cut or shortenedHeating wires must never be closer than 2 ½ inches apart The mesh between the wires may be cut but take great care not to cut or nick the wire itself. Wire may also be removed from the mesh and laid out on the floor. Secure in position with pieces of 1” wide duct tape, or hotmelt glue. The resin coated fibreglass re-enforcing mesh is designed to protect the heating cable and add strength to the layer of thinset or mortar. The re-enforcing mesh can be cut, turned, flipped, or in part removed, to accommodate any room size or shape.
