Description: Description: this is an authentic, USGI, M1 Garand stock from a World War Two rifle that I made into a desktop penholder. I carved one of our soldiers name into it, and his home state. This is called trench art. Soldiers, marines, etc. often personalized the woodstocks of their weapons for many reasons: to make it unique and easy to find when arms were stacked, as a reminder of their home or loved one, or out of boredom! They did it out in the field when all they had was a bayonet and or a pocket knife. I could’ve done this with a CNC milling machine, but it just would not have looked the same. I made this on a broken in half M1 Garand stock, so no worries, a collectible butt stock was not ruined! I picked out the name of one of our many soldiers who where killed in action. I would’ve made this penholder anyway , at least now people will remember this heroes name. You can see the following cartouches stamped on the butt stock from the manufacturer: the circled P, which means it was pressure tested, and the bomb and crossed cannons symbol of the ordinance department. Condition :It is in a very good shape considering it is from the World War II era. It has its original finish. It is de-milled.
