The Magellan Bellflower is a less familiar shrubby relative of the vining Chilean Bellflower, Lapageria rosea. Both are monotypic genera in the Philesiaceae family. Endemic to southern Chile, extending into adjacent Argentina. Gorgeous, curious small shrub that can be propagated from subterranean runners. Intolerant of summer heat when coupled with warms nights but worth trialing if a reliably cool spot can be found for potted plants. Suitable for planting out in the Pacific NW. Can be maintained as a pot plant to 10" pot size. Rarely offered, proven vigorous clone. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number for physical addresses within three working days of receipt of payment, weather permitting. 72 hour heat packs are available for an additional nominal charge. Wherever possible, plants will be shipped in plastic pots. If bare-rooting is required for shipment to your state, please advise when auction is completed. Delays: plants may be held for shipment if extreme weather conditions (involving sustained sub 40 degree F or 98+ F temperatures) are forecast for destination and buyer will be notified of this decision.
