Description: Marc Jacobs Runway by Marc JacobsVintage Fall Winter 2002 Runway Collection: Catwalk Exit #21Black Semi-Sheer Jersey Long Sleeve Flare Dress with Trompe L'œil Ribbon DetailsSize 6 USA75% Rayon, 25% NylonMade in USA MAJOR: THE ICONIC WINONA RYDER COURT DRESS Back in 2001, Winona Ryder shoplifted at the Saks Fifth Avenue store on Wilshire Boulevard and stole merchandise worth $5,560 –including a $760 Marc Jacobs sweater. She hit back at press during the over-documented trial by wearing this Marc Jacobs dress from his latest collection at the time, which led to her securing an ad campaign for Marc Jacobs a little over a year after her trial. This is that same, now iconic, dress that she selected. Marc Jacobs's Fall 2001 collection featured a series of black jersey dresses with contrasting colored jersey strips applied in a trople l'oeil effect to appear as thought the dresses were embellished with silk ribbons. VOGUE wrote of this collection that "colorful trompe l’oeil lapels, ribbons, collars, and trims on simple georgette tops and dresses all added to the general feeling of naive elegance." Shoulder to shoulder ~15.75 inches. Armpit to armpit ~16.5 inches. Natural waist ~13 inches. Hips ~16-18 inches. Length ~37 inches (front, center). Excellent condition. A few marks (pictured) and some light fading. Please note that the jersey strips at the neck are a light pink with a green applied on the; some of the pink color shines through the green strips. This is not discoloration. No returns.International buyers are responsible for customs, duty, and or taxes when applicable.
