Description: Markus Pierson Gumshoe and the Dame Wood Sculpture Pop Art Limited Edition 1989 Presented is a charming pop art sculpture “The Gumshoe and the Dame” by renowned artist Markus Pierson, dated 1989. This piece is number 52 of a limited edition of 350, and comes with its certificate of authenticity. The sculpture is wood, vividly and colorfully painted, depicting a very stylized wolf or coyote gumshoe and dame in the film noir vein, standing on a rectangular base that shows a city skyline. The 'gumshoe' is wearing a classic trenchcoat, like all good detectives, with his revolver hanging out of his breast pocket. The 'dame' is wearing a polka dot dress and sunglasses (at night!) with what I can only describe as a haughty expression. Very cool and rare piece of pop art, and certainly a conversation starter. This piece is signed Markus Pierson copyright 1989, and numbered 52 out of a limited edition of 350. This piece is in great overall condition, but the gumshoe's cigarette is missing. We point out a line in the gumshoe's shoe in the tenth photograph, this does not seem to be a break and repair as I'm not sure how the shoe could have broken when the piece is attached to the base, unless it happened while the piece was being made. Otherwise there are no issues, and the paint is in great shape. The sculpture stands about 22 ½ inches tall and the base measures about 13 by 7 ½ inches.
