Description: 1995 was an intriguing time for Seattle; the city had just made its short stay in the limelight of rock 'n' roll. But it remained a solitary outpost in a mostly unnoticed part of America. Bands were reticent to travel from San Francisco, Denver, or Minneapolis. Few all-ages venues were available in town. Modest Mouse and 764-Hero filled the rainy emptiness with non-stop writing and performing. This zealousness and isolated attitude spurred much creative exploration and experiment, best exemplified in their collaborative single, "Whenever You See Fit." This convergence of Modest Mouse's raggedy outpourings and 764-Hero's reflective songwriting birthed over a tour, produced a stunning 15-minute amalgam of delicate pop and hollering guitars, tastefully summarizing the dreamy artistry and chaotic punk of the Northwest's indie rock.
