Description: We are offering an antique Moro Barung from Sulu Mindanao, the Philippines. Blade - hand forged with a nice pattern that has been brought out with polishing and light etching. The tip has some hammer marks which is a little distracting, please look at the photos. I could feel a slightly swollen edge as I run my fingers near the edge, similar to a Sandigan. Hilt- carved out of grainy Bunti wood. Hilt has age cracks which commensurates with its age. There is a rectangular hole on the side, near the top which was once covered with a small piece of wood. Judging by the discoloration, the covering fell off many years ago. The ferrule is silver and is 3.25 inches in length. Blade and hilt has some movement and would need to be reset if the Barung will be used for test cutting. There is no scabbard.
