Description: Item for auction is a beautiful 6.60g etched gold plated pendant of the Muonionalusta meteorite, which was first found in Kiruna Norrbotten, Sweden in 1906. It is classified as a fine octahedrite iron meteorite class IVA. In 1906 two children were tending cattle near the village of Kitkiöjärvi in northermost Sweden. While kicking at stones lying on the ground, one child suddenly struck and exceptionally heavy and rusty object, which they took home to the village. It was later identified as an iron meteorite and was described by Hogbom (1910) under the name Muonionalusta. This is a very nice etched specimen, displaying a well defined Widmanstatten pattern. *The pendant has been stabilized against oxidizing (rusting) like most other Muonionalusta iron meteorites are prone to do - caveat emptor! Besides being stabilized, the pendant has been etched, displaying a most vibrant Widmanstatten pattern. Then the etched pendant was gold plated to give it that extra bit of class and style, as if a space rock needed anything more to be cool! Ha! It comes with a Big Kahuna Meteorites Certificate of Authenticity. Scale cube in photo is 1cm on each side, and not included in sale.Big Kahuna combines shipping, and addresses must be in the English language, to facilitate customs input at US Postal Service.
