They are like pink oysters and can die if they get close to freezing temperatures. I can usually substitute other varieties i have in stock IF you put a note in the order and or email me prior to the order. This includes four bags of 100 inoculated plugs on spiral cut dowels. Spiral cut helps to ensure more valuable mycelium stays in the grooves when hammered in. Used to inoculate freshly cut logs. Spawn is made with certified organic grains. Free shipping in the USA. Fresh cut hardwood logs should be used to prevent competitor fungi although it is best to allow the log to rest, off the ground after fresh cutting for 2-3 weeks prior to plugging. Fruit trees are generally not a good type to use. A drill bit from 5/16"-11/32" is commonly used including the metric 8.5mm in between. I stock two sizes of drill bits, one for slighty increased depth. My bits will fit all standard sized plugs on the market and are less cost than any others ive seen. The holes are then sealed over with wax (which i also sell) although some people skip this step. Made to order to ensure freshness, these usually will take approx 3-5 days to ship. Although I try to always have plenty in stock ready to ship immediately, large orders of several thousand (across various selling platforms) sometimes wipe out the immediately available inventory before i can update them all. I can then, at your choice; either substitute for another type, wait for the lacking portion to be ready and ship it separately, ship the entire order when it is all ready, or refund that portion or the entirety of the order.
