The map has been realised at the period of the creation of the Duchy of Warsaw. It is very detailed and shows Poland and environs, showing the regions which were the subject of the marches of Napoleon's French Army and its allies, which resulted in the creation of the Duchy of Warsaw.By the treaty of Tilsitt in 1807, concluded with Prussia and Russia, Napoleon creates a Grand Duchy of Warsaw, a state of 104 000 km² and 2,5 millions inhabitants, it is entrusted to the government of Frederic Augustus 1 of Saxony, fidele vassal of Napoleon. In 1809, after the victory of Wagram, Napoleon imposed to Austria harsh peace conditions on the Schoenbrunn Treaty; Austria had to cede Western Galicia and the Zamosc district to the Grand Duchy of Warsaw. This increase brings the Grand Duchy to 157,000 km² and more than 4 million inhahitants.
