Description: From the desk of KSCartist - Tim Gagnon aka "The Patch Guy." NASA Space Shuttle STS-51L 30th Anniversary Commemorative This is the original Challenger commemorative I created in 2016. It will soon be replaced by an updated design that I licensed AB Emblem to make that honors the entire Challenger legacy. Although each anniversary of the final Challenger mission is a sad remembrance, I wanted to depict the orbitersafely in space because the mission of education survived the tragedy. The seven stars are a tribute to the crew. The ‘flame of knowledge" (the symbol for the “Teacher in Space” program), represents the “1” in the 51L. Halley’s Comet is included, as shown in the original crew patch. The crew names are embroidered on a white border trimmed in metallic silver similar to the white and gray border of the original crew patch.
