When penetrating the material, the small ball point displaces the loops so that the material doesn‘t get damaged. Commonly used with Handi Quilter Longarm Quilting Machine. The letters FG or FFG will be on ball point needle packages / dur needles from Groz-Beckert come with a chromium coating, which is applied using a special coating process. The improved coating enhances the wear protection – especially in the piont area – as well as the sliding properties of the needle when stitching through the material.
