When I purchased a new bicycle from my store, I opted for the Wide Saddle rather than the Standard one since the Wide was in stock and was a novelty. For some unknown reason the Wide Saddle is extremely rare and is always sold out on Brompton's website. Our store, too, usually had none in stock. Very rarely and unpredictably one would turn up with a new Brompton, in place of the Standard one. This would happen less than one percent of the time. What's up with that? I couldn't tell you. Certain Brompton OEM items are theoretically in production but, for whatever reason, they are chronically unavailable. Even to dealerships, which order directly from Brompton.
