Description: Brand new, just taken out of the package, but we purchased this beautiful cutting board 7 years ago.Due to life circumstances, it stayed sealed unopened in it's original shipping box until now. Now we just opened it, applied a liberal amount of mineral oil and then a fresh coating of board butter (beeswax/mineral oil), and noticed several flaws on both sides of the board you can see in the pictures. Speaking to John, the owner of The Boardsmith, he said these are micro checks (cracks), most likely from the board sitting so long unused. There's also an almost imperceptible micro dent on one of the sides that I tried to photograph and is probably too small that anyone would ever notice. It is still a very beautiful board, very functional and very very solid and heavy. John says he sells these for $340, so I have discounted it to account for the flaws.
