BID WITH CONFIDENCE - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED NEWFOUNDLAND 73 NSSC 64a 1897 35c RED CABOT ICEBERGS ANALINE INK VF MPH CV$200 Analine ink printing variety of the thirty-five cent, dull red 'Icebergs off St. John's' stamp from the 'Cabot' / 'Jubilee' / 'Discovery of Newfoundland' issue of 1897 commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of Newfoundland by John Cabot and the diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, engraved, no watermark, perf. 12.0x12.0. Printed by the American Bank Note Company of New York, on medium weight (almost like Pelure paper), white wove paper with horizontal mesh, white (almost colorless) gum. This very popular issue includes some of the finest engraved stamps ever produced, anywhere. Approximately 30% of original gum disturbed by previous hinging, hinge remnants. Excellent, sound fault-free example of this scarce printing variety. This printing variety is listed as 64a in the Walsh Newfoundland Specialized Stamp Catalogue with a value of $200 US for a stamp in mint, previously hinged condition.
